Despite releasing his awesome music video, Jimmy McMillan of the Rent Is Too Damn High party squeaked by with just under 40,000 votes, making the party ineligible for legitimate party backing in the next election. But as far as we're concerned, this is still the year of Jimmy McMillan! After spending years behind the Rent Is Too Damn High party, he got a chance to debate other candidates, was parodied on SNL, and yesterday his highly anticipated album dropped on iTunes, at the not-too-damn-high price of $9.99! Praise is already flooding in.

The album, titled "The Rent Is Too Damn High (Volume 1)" (OMG there's going to be a volume 2?!), has a near-perfect score after 11 ratings, and two reviews already. One raves that McMillan, "has the best views on everything that is wrong with NY!" The other simply says, "Just want to let you know Jimmy I voted for you!" Neither the album nor any of its songs have appeared on the iTunes most popular lists (yet), and we can't figure out if McMillan has them available for download on his website because the site is Too Damn Busy.

McMillan seemed crestfallen over his loss, telling WPIX, "I feel sad for the children and the people... Why did they vote this way tonight? I don't know, it's kind of heartbreaking." He also prophesied, "There's going to be a rent increase at the beginning of next year, say like in June." As for his future political career, he said he will not run for office again, but for anyone leaving the city because of the rent, he said, "I'm going to wave at you when you catch the bus on Greyhound, I'm going to give you a thumbs up when you're in the airplane leaving New York." Who knew Jimmy McMillan and Patti Smith would ever see eye to eye.
