A 27-year-old women was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver while cycling over a bridge on City Island.

According to police, the woman—whose name hasn't been released— was on her bike riding west over the City Island Bridge in the Bronx around 11:45 p.m. last night when the incident happened. The woman was struck by the driver near Cross Street.

Authorities found the woman unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma. She was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators determined that she was struck by a white Hyundai sedan which then fled the scene.
