Police say that a Queens man killed his wife and then jumped to his death off the elevated tracks at the 40th Street Station this morning. Amis Cale, 41, allegedly stabbed his wife, 37-year-old Jennifer Cale, early today. According to the News, the couple's 19-year-old daughter found her father standing over mom's body, soaked in blood, in their home on 39th Place in Sunnyside just around 8 a.m. “She was yelling, ‘Help! Help! Save my mother,” said the building’s super, Elias Suarez. “I heard the commotion and went upstairs. I saw [Jennifer Cale] in the apartment. I saw her lying faceup. There was blood everywhere.”

The father then apparently ran to the elevated 7 train subway station at Lowery Street a block away, where he jumped off and fell 40 feet. A neighbor who spotted Cale called 911 to say they saw him in bare feet and wearing a white shirt about to jump; Cale was later declared dead at Elmhurst Hospital. "I saw him standing up there and he jumped. It's about 50 feet. I saw the guy down on the ground laying back. He was alive,” witness Mario Salinas told the Post.

Police are still investigating what prompted the apparent murder-suicide. But neighbors are shocked by what happened. "They never argued, that's why it’s weird, I don't understand,” said 36-year-old neighbor George Suarez. “They were very quiet they always seemed like a happy couple always with a smile, but he was very soft spoken. This has been a terrible tragedy.”
