Friday night Gothamist hung out at casa de Austinist for an exclusive list only party that was essentially put on by New York's own Ultragrrrl. Scanning over the list during the calm of the storm (ie: an hour before the house was invaded by Brit pop bands and the people who love them) we noticed one name that stuck out, Jay-Z. Check it out here. We just hoped he liked Sparks and Red Stripe since those were the free (and only) libations being offered that night.
The guests filtered in and made the once spacious house feel like a Friday night at any bar these days in the Lower East Side. With Maximo Park, Idlewild and The Prix playing, Bloc Party deejaying and a special set by MC Chris we knew the night would be a long one and tried our best to get through it without drinking a drop of Sparks. Full coverage of the party and the show will be over at Austinist as soon as we collectively piece the night back together.
Luckily for us, New York didn't feel too far away as we bumped into a few of our favorite downtown bands. The Cloud Room, Asobi Seksu and Morning Theft were all there enjoying the festivities. We had a chance to catch The Cloud Room yesterday at the Fader/Levi's party and will be telling you all about it after our nap. For now, check out photos here of our time in Austin thus far.
