donateNYC, a program of the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY), helps New Yorkers give goods, find goods, and do good, with tools that make it easy to donate or find gently-used and surplus items.

Donating and reusing goods instead of discarding them reduces waste, conserves energy, saves money, and supports nonprofit organizations working to improve the lives of New Yorkers. donateNYC provides a variety of resources and tools that support the donation and reuse of material goods to businesses, nonprofits, and residents.

The donateNYC Exchange is an online platform that connects businesses looking to donate goods with nonprofits that can use the free supplies. Whether your company is remodeling, moving, or expanding, there is no bad time to turn to the Exchange.

The donateNYC Directory is a convenient online and mobile search tool that helps New Yorkers locate places to donate or find gently-used goods. Using the website or the donateNYC app, residents input their locations and the types of items they would like to give or get to find the closest donation and reuse outlets. The Directory lists hundreds of reuse venues across the five boroughs including thrift shops, vintage stores, second-hand furniture stores, and more.

donateNYC’s Exchange and Directory have kept thousands of tons of materials out of the waste stream, while helping New Yorkers give and get what they need. donateNYC is a vital part of NYC’s goal to achieve Zero Waste by 2030.
